Unique: The Roman buildings in Trier and the surrounding area

In Trier, the former imperial residence, the Roman buildings are still part of the cityscape today. Seven of them are UNESCO World Heritage Sites: the Porta Nigra, the Kaiserthermen (Imperial Baths), the Amphitheater (Amphitheatre), the Barbarathermen (Barbara Baths), the Roman Bridge, the Konstantin-Basilika (Aula Palatina or ‘Basilica of Constantine’) and, just outside Trier, the Igel Column. The Forum Baths at the Viehmarkt in the centre of Trier provide an insight into around 2000 years of Trier's history. The Villa Otrang in the Eifel region, an example of luxurious villa culture in the countryside, impresses with its spectacular mosaics, which are still at the site where they were found.
